What is QTI?
QTI stands for Question and Test Interoperability. It is a standard maintained by the IMS Global Consortium (http://www.imsglobal.org/question).

Why do we need QTI?
We need QTI to allow assessment questions and results in XML to be transferred between IT systems.

What is a validated-assessment tool?
A validated-assessment tool is a question which is known to be valid for a particular unit of competency from an AQTF standpoint.

What is the difference between a validated-assessment tool and a QTI tool?

A QTI tool is one of a set of interaction types that the QTI standard encodes. Examples are ‘Choice Interactions’, which form the basis of multiple-choice questions, ‘Text Interactions’ are written answers to questions. AQTF validated-assessment tools on the other hand are questions which are known to be valid within the AQTF.

What sort of PDA OS do I need for the QTImPlayer?

The latest version of the QTImPlayer will run using Microsoft® Windows Mobile® 5.0 and 6.0.

How do I get my assessment tools into the QTImPlayer?
To do this you need a QTI Content Package generator, (CP). Once you have this you can email the CP to the QTImPlayer or use Microsoft® ActiveSync® to copy the CP onto the mobile device.

Can I access validated-assessment tools from the QTImPlayer website?

How do I attach assessment evidence to the assessment report?
Before submitting an assessment, the QTImPlayer will give you the option to attach files to the package.

How do I email my assessment report?
When you have completed an assessment, the QTImPlayer automatically creates an email containing the assessment results and any additional attachments. This is sent to an email address, which is specified in the QTImPlayer settings.

To whom do I email my assessment report?
You will probably email the assessment package to yourself. If you have another system in place in your institution that will process the QTI content package automatically you could email the package to a special address held in that system.

How does my assessment report get into the student-management system?
The assessment reports include results in XML format, which could be automatically imported into a student-management system if such a system already exists within the organisation. However, the usual method is to enter the results manually.

Can I stop the assessment process even if it has not been completed?
Yes, you can save the assessment at any time and continue with it later.
